1861. Hardback. Extremely rare. Fine in fine green cloth covers, blocked in gilt and blind with a border of solid and broken Celtic interlacing knotwork and other design. With seven colour plates, tissue guards (some torn), and with colour reproduction of Celtic art from the Books of Kells and Durrow. Gilt edged. Covers showing some shelf wear, cracks at spine top and bottom and with bumped corners. Book plates of previous owners on inside front cover and on ffep. Publishers label inside back cover. Inside front cover cracked at front spine. Light foxing throughout, all pages yellowed, illustrations are bright and colour is sharp. A beautiful example. First edition copy. . . .
