Crononauta was an experimental science fiction and fantasy editorial project, arguably the first of its kind to be produced in Mexico; the science fiction was a means to an artistic experimentation. In the magazine, several influential Mexican artists and writers contributed, as well as translations from foreign writers, amongst them: Alejandro Jodorowsky, Carlos Solórzano, Catherin Harle-Normandin, Charles Fourier, Fernando Arrabal, Gérard Griffon, Hans Arp, L. West, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Vicente Huidobro, etc. From its origins the magazine promised to fill an important gap in Hispanic literature "Llenar un enorme vacío de la literatura hispano hablante," that of locally produced science fiction, a cultural project by Rebetez; in its presentation, the magazine self-defined as a little monster that came from a wise dimension, similar to the creatures of H. P. Lovecraft. (Tattersfield).
