xxxi,(1),278,(1)pp. Royal octavo. The large paper edition, limited to a printing of 550 copies, of which this is copy #265. Green cloth backed paper boards with a brown gilt stamped title label mounted to the spine. Edges roughly trimmed. Heavily illustrated with black and white plates taken from photographs, sketches by the author, paintings and a hand-coloured photogravure frontispiece; many of the photographs used were taken by Edward Curtis. A touch of wear along the edges of the boards. A tight and clean copy in very good to near fine condition. A. B. 11838. Muir was aboard the Revenue Steamer CORWIN when she was sent into the Arctic Ocean searching for the JEANNETTE; the first known landing was made on Wrangell Island. Seller Inventory # 142480
