Madhubuti] Signed First Edition Broadside Press, Detroit 1969 Stapled printed wraps, simultaneously issued in hardcover. pp. 64; VG condition, ownership stamps to first and last page, creases to tail of front cover, light rubbing and soil Lee's third collection of poetry introduced by Gwendolyn Brooks, Signed twice as apparently the recipient doubted he was the author. Inscribed "To my sister in blackness [illegible] Don Lee, P.S. thank you, & yes - I am Don Lee" - An early signature as he changed his name to Haki R. Madhubuti in 1974. Lee was a major poet of the Black Arts movement and co-founded Third World Press in Chicago which became the largest independent black publishing house in the United States. [Blockson 5163].
