The first edition of this vanishingly scarce work.'Cupid's Caterers' mocks the business of women's magazines, making fun of the profession of journalism, in particular that aimed for women.The novel follows Webbe Murdock, who comes to London determined to earn a "marrying income". He soon becomes the "sub-editress" of a popular feminine weekly, named 'Honeysuckle'.By Ward Muir, a noted author, photographer, and journalist. In this novel, he is writing from personal experience, as he worked on women's magazines at Carmelite House in Fleet Street during his early career.Four pages of adverts to the front. Forty-eight pages of adverts to the rear, dated November 1913. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with small chips to the rear joint. A few minor marks. Spine is a little age-toned. Institutional label to the front paste down, and to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
