Curb, Snaffle, and Spur - A Method of Training Young Horses for the Cavalry Service and for General Use Under the Saddle

1894. First UK edition. 132pp., a frontispiece, vignette on the title-page, and 31 black and white illustrations from photographs within the text. Edward Lowell Anderson (1842-1916) was an American soldier, horseman and writer. This work was written with a view of presenting a method of training horses for the use of mounted soldiers; but there is nothing that would not be important for the education of any horse intended for the saddle. The book is bound in the original paper covered boards with a red leather spine, gold titling on the spine and black titling with an illustration on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with shelf wear and some soiling and a little staining on the boards. The top front corner is fairly heavily bumped and there is light bumping to the other corners with a little damage and loss to the paper covering the corner tips. There is also a dent on the bottom edge of the front board. The leather on the spine ends is worn and there are a few small holes in the leather on the front spine edge (probably from insect damage). The contents are tight and clean with a few light foxing marks on the title-page. There is no inscription.
