The scarce FIRST EDITION, First Printing (with appropriate points) of the book that introduced the American world to the beloved monkey, Curious George, in 1941; he had appeared in the authors' native France 2 years earlier. Small quarto (8.75" x 10.5") has salmon cloth-covered boards (faded from a brighter red) stamped in brown to front, brown lettering to spine. Condition is Poor: this book was well-loved & much read by previous owners, showing soil, unclosed tears to many pages, 1 page completely torn, top to bottom, but both halves present. Two children's names in pencil & pen to "This book belongs to" page, rear free endpaper torn out. Both boards are faded & soiled, with heavy rubbing to extremities & significant fraying along bottom edges. But it's that elusive First Edition! NO DJ.
