Synopsis
Curtis Turner was a professional athlete in the field of stockcar racing, one of the fifty greatest NASCAR drivers of all time, and called the Babe Ruth of racing by Sports Illustrated. Curtis was one of the original group of men who met at the Streamline Hotel, in Daytona FL and helped found the historic and fastest growing sport in America and the world: NASCAR The book contains the details and stats of his racing career from 1946 to 1968. The book contains a heart-felt article written by Ann Ross Turner, (now deceased) his wife during his racing career. This book is written and compiled by his daughter, Margaret Sue Turner Wright, who was right there during the growth of her Dad's phenomenal career. Curtis Turner was also the founder of the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
About the Author
Margaret Sue Turner Wright is the Daughter of her celebrity NASCAR and Stockcar racing Legendary Father, Curtis Turner. She was taught how to drive by him and later became a graduate in the first graduating class of The Safe High Speed Performance Driving School, which her Father founded on his beloved track, the Charlotte Motor Speedway, in Charlotte, NC. Margaret Sue and her Father were very close throughout his life and she remembers growing up in a life that was somewhat removed from the life lived after the loss of her beloved Father, while she was attending Roanoke College. She has wanted the world to know about her Dad’s contributions to the world of stock car racing, NASCAR and the entrepreneurial business world as well. And equally important, she hopes thru her book to give Hope and Inspiration to people who have struggled in life against the odds as her Father did and won against all the odds. ‘Anything is possible’, her Daddy always said. And so it was, and so it is!
