About this Item
Hawthorn Books. New York. 1971. 211 pages. First edition, first printing. Book is near fine. Tight, clean and bright. Small amount of sticker stain on inside front pastedown as a result of sticker affixed to front flap on DJ. Corners are sharp; cloth is fresh and bright. Minor manufacturer's cloth wrinkle on front. Scant, faint foxing (barely) along top page edges. Original DJ with $6.95 price intact on front flap. DJ is bright and attractive; and appears about fine however rear of DJ shows a couple of discolored paper stains; and one small closed tear. This is the elusive hardcover first edition, first printing of the classic economics forecasting / prediction title from the man President Herbert Hoover assigned the task of getting to the 'why' of the Stock Market Crash of 1929. Dewey would go on to establish a foundation for the study of Cycles; a non-profit research institution to study forecasting and prediction that still exists today. The former Chief Economist & Economics Analyst for the US Department of Commerce passed away in 1978. A most uncommon Economics first edition; NF-/VG+. Seller Inventory # 001888
