Separated, with custody of her son Andy, Ruth dreamt of a life away from the nightclub, and Blakely seemed able to provide it. But he was shiftless and couldn't commit himself to just one woman - a truth Ruth could not bear. One cold night she shot him down outside a London pub. Ruth Ellis was tried, found guilty and sentenced to death. In 1955 she was hanged in Holloway prison, the last woman to executed in Britain. Starring Miranda Richardson, Rupert Everett and Ian Holm.
