Small 4to. 125p. Color frontispiece plus 20 full page color illustrations and numerous head- and tail-pieces by Margaret Ayer, as well as numerous black and white drawings throughout. Full color endpapers by Ayer. Cream-colored cloth with orange letters on the spine and with a color pictorial onlay to the front cover by Sowers which depicts a young girl with a basket of bananas seated in front of a boy looking out a a sailing vessel on the water. Very minor wear to extremities with a couple of corners just barely rubbed through, pictorial onlay has a few nicks around the edges but is clean and bright, all illustrations present and in fine condition, else near fine to fine with no internal markings. Phyllis Ayer Sowers (1894-1974) wrote a number of children?s books set in Asia. The illustrator, Margaret Ayer, was her sister. Story set in Ceylon, present day Sri Lanka, with just charming color illustrations. Seller Inventory # 009428
