White paper dust jacket has tanned at edges, light edgewear with 3 small tears, text is without flaw, very clean and well bound, appears unread, 8.25 X 10.25" 157 pages, (1966) Hand bound by The Hermits of St. John the Baptist, Merville, B.C. A well written and fascinating history of Campbell River, B.C. Starting with the native population and a photograph of Chief Billy Assu taken in 1923, there is also a photo of a totem pole which stood on the Spit, and was bought in the early 1920's by the New York Museum. With chapters on industrial development and logging, tourism, some of the early settlers, buildings, and events up to the mid-1960s. Illustrated by vintage photographs including one of the bar at the Willows Hotel taken in 1914. The bar was made of one slab of clear-grained fir, 40 feet long, 3 inches thick and 18 inches wide.
