Isolated families living in outback South Australia who have children up to eight years are supported by RICE Incorporated, a community-managed organisation providing health, welfare and educational services. In 2001 RICE identified the need for a creative way to meet the needs of women clients wishing to develop new and creative life skills. A creative writing and visual arts/photography project was achieved with federal, state and regional arts funding. This is an anthology of the women's writing, highlighting their personal journeys, often with humour, and sometimes expressing emotions, struggles, and personal conflicts. The book celebrates women in the outback and the environment in which they live.Heavily illustrated with photographs, the vast majority in color. 112 pages with contributors and index.
