Little poses a pertinent question in his forward: Is there room for another book on national parks? Fortunately for him?and for the reader?the answer is yes. The photographs by David Muench are enough to make it a worthwhile addition to just about all collections, but Little does more than give touristy information about the parks; in fact, he doesn't even pretend to cover them all. Instead, he concentrates on those parks that highlight the natural, historic, social, and political milestones of America. He presents a unique history of the United States, with specific national parks serving as the timelines of measurement, and in this effort he suceeds admirably. Highly recommended.?Joseph L.
