Nine letters written by Michael Vetter, a 23 year-old German immigrant stationed out west, to his brother Adam back in Pittsburgh. The letters describe the hardships of serving in the U.S. Army during the years 1875-76. A member of Company L, Vetter was killed at the Little Big Horn. Mentions of General Custer and Red Cloud.
