Item description from seller

Here is "The House of Life, A Sonnet-Sequence", by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, famous Pre-Raphaelite Poet. The book was edited by Paull Franklin Baum, who also wrote the lengthy introduction, and comprehensive notes. The book was owned by Professor Albert S. Kerr, with his signature on the font free end-paper, and, as well, there are some marginal notes by Professor Kerr, which is an added bonus from this esteemed scholar of nineteenth English literature. Kerr was an alumnus of Franklin and Marshall College, and a Professor at Rutgers University. We've shown some of the pages upon which he commented. TITLE : The House of Life, A Sonnet-Sequence AUTHOR : Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828 - 1882) EDITOR / INTRODUCTION / NOTES : Paull Franklin Baum IMPRINT : Harvard University Press PLACE : Cambridge MA DATE : 1928 EDITION : First Thus. STATUS : Out of Print - OP PROVENANCE : From the personal collection of Professor Albert S. Kerr, with his inked and dated signature on the front free end-paper. Text-block is modestly toned, else clean. BINDING - Solid INTERIOR - Professor Kerr's dated signature on front free end-paper; scattered marginal notes by Professor Kerr (those in the Introduction seem mainly to be penciled - those through the text are mainly neatly inked.). The paper throughout is slightly toned, else clean. There are a few leaves with a bit of raggedness to the top edges. For the most part interior is clean and presentable, Professor Kerr's marginal notes considered DUAT-JACKET - The jacket has considerable wear (smudging, small stains, etc) and the panels hade been separate. We have placed the jacket within a clear mylar sleeve to protect against further wear. The jacket has done its job well, and with the mylar sleeve, should continue to do so. (there is a single lightly penciled note on the rear flap). …
