Bound in publisher's dark green cloth, gilt roundels to head front board with Latin inscription "Frangas non Flectas". Spine reinforced with black library tape, covering original material. Deckle fore-edge. Plain white endpapers. Viii; 432 pp, followed by [18] pp Appendix Supplementary List/Artistic Record. Condition notes: A rather poor condition reader's copy, ex-college-library with many stamps and stickers indicating such. Boards heavily worn, spine ends rolled, corners bumped, edges tanned/soiled. Reinforced spine/gutters; marginalia and underlining not uncommon, though fairly discreet. Pages tanned and somewhat brittle. A serviceable first printing. Bonus: an former owner/Rossetti enthusiast inserted a laminated "Ivy leaf plucked from the graves of the ROSSETTI family [plot] in Highgate Cemetery, London, England.". Rossetti (1828-1882) was notable for his poetry and art, as well as founding the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, and his association with William Morris; Christina Rossetti, poet, was his sister.
