Very scarce true first, stated, of the second book in this classic children's series, not ex-library as is often found. Jacket is a bit age-toned, with scattered soiling. Spine sunned. Shelfwear to edges with chipping most heavily to top edges and head and tail of spine. Presents well in mylar. Price of $5.95 is intact on front flap. Black cloth boards have some very subtle spotting or light staining near top edges but otherwise remarkably clean. Corners a bit bumped, with light shelfwear to edges, stronger to head and tail of spine with some fraying just starting at bottom joint corners. Bronze spine titling is sharp and bright. Subtlest outward bow to rear board. Interior age-toned with slight soiling to top and outer edges of textblock. Very subtle, hardly noticeable light crease to top corner of FFEP and flyleaf. Subtle fading to top edges of red endpapers. Binding tight, interior otherwise clean, feels unread. A very collectible copy of a very scarce book.
