Loss Of Part Of White Lettering On Spine, Title And Author's Name With About 50% Loss Of White But Still Barely Readable, Although All White Is Lost From The Publisher's Name; Copies With Even Partial White Lettering Are Quite Scarce. Inscribed From Balloonist Jay B.Benton To O. L. Stevens And Dated Dec. 25, 1902. Jay B. Benton (1870-) Of Vermont, Graduated From Dartmouth In 1890; He Was Editor Of “The Dartmouth” For Two Years. He Then Worked For The Boston Evening Transcript, And From 1894 The “Boston Journal”, And Was In Guildhall [Essex County, Vermont], Son Of Judge Charles E. And Was A Member Of The Papyrus Club, A Literary Society. He Piloted The Dartmouth Entry In The 1911 Intercollegiate Balloon Race; A. Leo Stevens, “Prominent In Aero-Planing And Ballooning Circles”, Acted As Referee And As Starter Of The Race. Benton’S Ballooning Scrapbook Is In The Smithsonian National Air And Space Museum. O. L. Items are returnable for any reason within 30 days of receipt, or later by mutual agreement; for returned items, prior telephone or e-mail notice is required, as well as proper packing and, if appropriate, insurance. Non-standard and higher-valued international shipments are charged estimated postage and shipping costs, including full insurance for all shipments valued over $200.
