Red cloth covered boards with small round image of an elephant's head incenter of front panel, gilt-stamped lettering on spine. Upper edges are gilt. Boards are clean. Upper edge at head of board spine is rubbed through on the left half and webbing is exposed. Lower edge at tail of board spine is crimped and fold tips are rubbed. Minimal scuffs at fore-edge corners. Small bookseller's label on front paste down. Gutter is partially cracked at copyright and Contents pages, but holding well. Foxing to external side edges. Shadow transfers on versos of FFEP and list of By the Same Author. Text is lightly age-toned else internally clean. No smudges or foxing. Text block is sound. Brown paper dust jacket with black lettering and graphics. Dust jacket is signed, more so on spine and folds. Significant losses at head of jacket spine and adjacent upper edges of front and bank panels. Large loss from scrape on the back jacket panel. Tail of jacket spine has small chips. Upper edge of front panel has several chips and tears, open and closed. Upper edge of back jacket panel has small chips and diagonal creasing. Lower edge of back panel has shallow horizontal creasing. Fore-edge corners are rubbed and with minimal loss. Price of 7/6 NET at tail of jacket spine.
