Rear joint split but sewings holding, front joint beginning to split, minor loss from corners, scattered foxing throughout, ink name on front endpaper. 1814 Half-Leather. xlvi, 215 pp. Leather spine and corners, marbled boards. A veteran of the American Revolution and negotiator of the Treaty of Detroit during his time as governor of the Michigan Territory, Hull is nonetheless remembered most for the trial referenced here. During the War of 1812, Hull was convicted of cowardice and neglect of duty and sentenced to death by firing squad, but President James Madison commuted the sentence to dismissal from the armed forces. This work and his 1824 memoirs redeemed his reputation in the eyes of many contemporaries.
