The first edition of this humorous poem The Devil's Visit. With five illustrated plates and an additional frontispiece by Robert Cruikshank. Advertisement on verso to title page signed C E D. Direct from the library of the late Hugh Selbourne MD (1906-1973) a noted book collector and diarist. Isaac Robert Cruikshank was a caricaturist, illustrator and portrait miniaturist. He was the less-known brother of George Cruikshank. His father, Isaac Cruikshank was well known for his social and political satire cartoons. In a half morocco binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, very smart with a minor amount of rubbing to the joints. Prior owner's bookplate to front pastedown, Walter Flinn. Internally, firmly bound.
