Three volumes bound as two, published successively in 1839 and 1840. Original cloth hard covers, with paper spine title-labels. Moderate toning and handling to covers; mild toning & foxing to edges. Front free endpaper lacking in first volume (though there remains a blank fly-leaf); old owner's bookplate in each volume, with additional early name to endpaper of second volume. Otherwise clean, tight and unmarked. Very neat with bright text -- a sound and handsome set. [vol. I]242+228[vol. II]ii,300pp. Marryat's strident impressions of his tour in Canada and the US were not very well received. Seller Inventory # 71107gh
