AS NEW. A Very Handsome FOLIO sized Two Volume Set. Both Volumes bound in Half Dappled Calfskin with marbled paper covers. The covers and edges marbled by Ann Muir. Both Volumes are housed in a partitioned brown buckram slip-case with a printed paper label to the one side. Printed at St Edmundsbury Press on Favini Toned paper and bound by Smith Settle of Otley. First edition thus. Folio (each volume measures 42cm x 26cm. Approx.17" x 10.5"). 1164pp; 1164pp. Titles (and side label) printed in red & black. A Facsimile of the FIRST EDITION of 1755 published by W. Strahan. This copy is Number 131 of an edition of one thousand hand-numbered copies. A FINE, As New, Bright set, apparently unused. Loosely inserted is a letter to the former owner from the Folio Society apologising for the delay due to each set being hand-crafted, plus a slip on 'How to care for' the leather and the book.
