4to. 27cm, un-paginated (over 1,000 pp.), triple-column, in contemporary tree calf boards rebacked in on laid brown fabrikoid, original crimson morocco label replaced, inner linen hinges, armorial bookplate, very good (Lgc). Italian art critic, Joseph Baretti (1719-1789) based his dictionary on Delino's Spanish and English Dictionary which he credits as the first edition. A friend and colleague of Samuel Johnson, Baretti drew on Johnson's Dictionary for much of the English part. "He can with truth that he has added little less than ten thousand words, and made many erasures." (Author's preface).
