First edition. Red cloth boards with bright gilt titling on spine. Book is clean, unmarked and free of blemishes both inside and out, other than prior owner's name on FFEP, really NEAR FINE. Unclipped DJ is the same - NEAR FINE. Four full page line drawings by Pricilla C. Houle; this book is an entertaing tongue-- in-- cheek "interpretation" of Harvard's history, by recounting stories from Harvard's eating and drinking 300 year history; and the student's rebellious side, riots and hell--raising, etc. There is more than food, drink, horseplay, and riot stories. Many of Harvard's traditions and customs origins, and annual events are explained, and the author claims all is based on as much fact as is available. Scarce and desirable for any Harvard library. Includes a list of the Presidents of Harvard from 1638 to 1933.
