31.5 x 23 cm. 176pp. Rebound into modern brown boards with new endpapers. Index of names. 84 of the pages are illustrated with lithograph diagrams of guns, usually 10 per page. The detailed lithographs are by N. Peters of Washington. Tape repaired closed tear to title page as well as two small closed tears to the final leaf. Some chipping to the bottom right corner of the first few pages, at no point reaching text. Errata not present. Uncommon work, this is the true first edition with 1874 on title and copyright page and I cannot find the 1st in Worldcat, I could only find the facsimile reprint which was done in 1963.
