Cloth. Condition: Very Good. FIRST EDITION. 8vo, amply illustrated with b/w plates of film stills. Original sea green cloth, spine lettered in plum. Pushing to spine ends, slightest bend to boards, wrinkle to bottom board. Faint spotting to edges. A little musty, else, clean and tight. In the attractive illustrated dust jacket in pink, yellow, and black: a little grubby and rubbed, creasing and occasional nick to top edges. Very good/ very good. A pleasing copy of an early analysis of one of the pioneers of the documentary film movement, John Grierson, by his friend and supporter, the Scottish film critic Forsyth Hardy (1910-1994). A significant figure in British film, he was The Scotsman's first film critic and co-founded the magazine Cinema Quarterly, the British Film Institute and the Scottish Film Council in 1933 and 1934, as well as the Edinburgh International Film Festival in 1947.
