Modern Library, New York. 1930. 936 pages. First Modern Library Edition stated, first printing. Blind-stamped torchbearer (no gilding) on the front cover. Motteaux translation with Brickell introduction. Purple balloon cloth with spine design #5, with Kent endpapers. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Previous owner's name signed and dated (1930) on FFEP, and stamped on front pastedown. Burgundy cloth shows a small faint stain on front panel. Cloth on rear panels shows a couple of faint rumples. Slight sunning to spine; gilt titles still bright. An attractive, tight First Modern Library Edition, first printing, first state.
