1952. First Edition. 220 pages. Illustrated yellow jacket, priced 9.6d net to front flap, over green cloth with gilt titles to spine. Written by Anthony and Peter Shaffer. Featuring eccentric detective Mr Verity, depicted on jacket by Nicolas Bentley. Pages have slight foxing and tanning. Slight gutter cracking. Rear hinge has notable crack with netting exposed, but binding is still firm. Price in pencil to FEP. Slight liquid stains to pp.14-17 but text remains clear. A few dog-eared corners. Text block edges slightly foxed. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. Boards a little rubbed and marked overall, with subtle bowing and a moderate forward lean. Spine with mild, uneven tanning. Minor rubbing to lettering. Unclipped jacket has some edgewear with chips and creasing. Approx 2 inch tear to spine fold. Small area of loss to foot of spine, which is a tad sunned.
