First Edition (first printing), preceding the considerably more common American edition. 8vo. 318pp. Blue cloth, lettered and bordered in red at the spine. The tip of one corner bumped, and with a sliver of discolouration to the cloth at the head of the upper board, and some light offsetting from the dust wrapper artwork to the backstrip. Some light partial toning to the free endpapers, and a contemporary former owner name and date inked to the front free endpaper. A very good copy in the handsome pictorial dust wrapper designed by John Minton, non-price-clipped but a little toned at the rear panel, and chipped with several tiny areas of loss from the spine panel ends and corner tips.
