A very good set of the two volumes. Bound in full tree bark leather professionally respined with gilt decoration and leather title labels to spine. John Burgoyne (1723 1792) is perhaps best remembered in American history as the officer who surrendered following the battle at Bemis Heights in1777. He possibly had more success as a dramatist, although possibly not so much as a gambler! Here is an outline of his life and a collection of his dramatic and poetical works. Both volumes have engraved frontispieces and other plates.
