The Dramatic Works of William Shakespeare 8 Vols Complete

Complete set of 8 volumes bound in half leather over marbled boards, five raised bands with an acorn motif in the panels, chestnut colored morocco spine labels with bright gilt titles. Each volume with the bookplate of Henry Clay and Helen Burgess Ranney, a prominent Cleveland family in the latter half of the 19th century. Henry was a lawyerand businessman, also assistant adjutant general under General E B Tyler of the army of the Potomac during the Civil war. Set has some edge wear. Internally volumes are mostly fine to unread with a few, especially volume 1 with foxing to the early pages. Volume 7 has the bands heavily rubbed and a crack at the front gutter. Mixed set with volumes 1 and 3 dated 1850 and the rest 1852. An overall handsome set.
