Carl's art training began with his grandfather, "Hap" Glassford, a tall, formal, retired Army general who had gone from hobbyist to a pretty good watercolor artists. His approach to life as an artist set the hook in the grandson that later produced a career in art.
Carl received a college scholarship from the Laguna Beach Festival of the Arts and earned degrees in communication, design, and education. He spent some years as a designer/art director for Walt Disney Productions, and he then moved on to careers in pubic television, commercial art, and--with the influence of his grandfather guiding him--teaching. He is currently a professor of art at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, California.
