"Fougasse" was the pen name of Cyril Kenneth Bird (1887-1965), a British cartoonist who was perhaps best known for his work in Punch magazine (of which he served as editor from 1949 to 1953) and his World War II warning propaganda posters; "Careless talk costs lives" was one of the most popular.
