The second book written by progressive thinker Walter Lippmann, who uses this book as a jumping off point for his progressive political theory and ideas on social and economic change. While rejecting Marxism, he manages to subvert the traditional order of thinking in an effort to bring politics up to speed with the quickly changing social scene of pre-WW1 America. Publisher's original black boards with gilt lettering to the front cover and the spine. The spine lettering is faded. Minor wear to spine edges. Overall, a lovely copy of this seminal work.
