Gun.This cannon was constructed and fitted on to a warship.Unfortunately for the Union the ship was burned to avoid it falling into the hands of the Confederates. J.A.Dahlgren was a Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy.He was known as "the father of American Naval Ordnance."Ulric Dahlgren was his son, and was a Colonel in the U.S. Army and was killed at the age of twenty-two in battle. This book has not been seen for many years. It is believed there was a very low printing of this book. OCLC locates nine copies.An exceptionally rare Civil War naval item.
