A bilingual edition of I due fratelli rivali (The Two Rival Brothers), a late Renaissance comedy by Giambattista Della Porta (1535–1615), presented with English translation on facing pages. Della Porta, a Neapolitan polymath and playwright, was a leading figure in Italian learned comedy and an early influence on European drama. This play, first published in 1601, exemplifies the fusion of classical Roman comic structure with the intricate plotting and character dynamics of commedia erudita. Edited and introduced by Louise George Clubb, a major scholar of Renaissance theater. FERRY-Univ.
