He wrote in a cross between Washington Irving and James Fenimore Cooper. He wrote of Saint Nicholas, Sant Claus, and the Dutch Catskilsl and Hudson River Sloop heritage and the origin story of "A Baker's Dozen" in New Netherlands and here also is his two fisted French and Indian war action novel of manners and untamed war.
