First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 230pp. Blue boards lettered in gold at the spine. With a photographic portrait frontispiece and two plates. Former owner details neatly inked to the front free endpaper, and with the handsome owl bookplate of the same owner to the front pastedown. A tiny hint of spotting to the top edge, else a fine copy in very lightly marked and edgeworn non-price-clipped dust wrapper. A companion piece to the Grisewood-edited collection 'Epoch and Artist' (1959), comprising fifteen prose pieces, all hitherto unprinted in bookform, and including one hitherto unprinted essay ('Art in Relation to War', written in circa 1942-3), and also his last major piece of writing - an introduction to the 1964 edition of 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner'.
