Emory's 1844 Texas is a good example of a map that both reflected events of history as well as helped shape them. The map was part of the annexation treaty between the United States and Texas and was the first map produced by the U.S. government recognizing Texas' boundary claims as Texas defined them in December 1836. Map appears in the SWHQ, Volume L, No. 2, October, 1946, Volume L, No. 3, January, 1947 and Volume L, No.4, April, 1947. Each issue with large folding maps of Emory's 1844 Map of Texas; 1st half and 2nd half of the reproduction of a copy of the Emory map of Texas which was transmitted by President John Tyler to the U.S. Senate in 1844 when the annexation of Texas was being considered. Of particular interest to the state boundary line along the Nueces River. The three volume set is in near fine to fine condition with the maps and interior in fine, unused condition. The set consists of three volumes.
