A detailed and comprehensive history of English Restoration bookbinding, with reference to Samuel Mearne, an English Restoration bookbinder, referred to by historians as the Queens' Binder, and publisher whose work is considered a high point of pre-industrial bookbinding. As well as commentary on his contemporaries. Written by Howard Millar Nixon, a British librarian at the British Museum then Librarian of Westminster Abbey and historian of bookbinding. From the library of Christopher Foyle, a British philanthropist and the chairman of the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, excellent.
