About this Item
Rose wrappers. Spine slightly nicked at head, edges of covers faintly creased. Edition limited to 75 numbered copies. Texts, set in generous italics, taken, according to the printer, from "typescripts made by Stuart Mason", i.e. Wilde's bibliographer, the bookseller Christopher Millard. "Have you forgotten the ship, love, / I made as a childish toy, / When you were a little girl, love, / And I was a little boy? // . . . It is forty long years since then, love, / And your hair is silver grey, / And we sit in our old armchairs, love, / And we watch our children play. // And I have a wooden leg, love, / And the title of K.C.B., / For bringing her Majesty's fleet, love, / Over the stormy sea. // And I've never forgotten the ship, love, / I made as a childish toy, / When you were a little girl, love, / And I was a sailor boy." Halliwell specifies "pale blue Hodgkinson hand-made paper", but this is Hodgkinson's white. Seller Inventory # E100172
