viii, 176 pp. Illus. with b/w drawings. 16mo. The first and most scarce of Houston's three text books on the natural sciences. OCLC and RLIN show only three copies: Harvard, Auburn, and American Philosophical Society. Covers matter, motion, force, solids, liquids, vapors, sound, heat light, adhesion, electricity, earth, and more in 24 lessons. Spine ends worn with some loss, but quite neat, paper covers rubbed with some staining to lower rear board, nearly invisible signature in the year of publication on the brown endpapers, binding solid, leaves still very crisp and clean; overall a nice copy and certainly better than good.
