This large biographical volume contains "records of Dept. Heads of State University, of various colleges of the state, and of faculties of those high schools of Michigan accredited by the State Univeristy." This is one of the more elusive early biographical volumes relating to Michigan and is not often encountered and probably contains about 750 - 1000 biographies. There are a number of full page photographic plates. Bound in full leather with raised bands, all edges are gilt with gilt lettering on front cover and spine. This is a clean, tight and solid book in nice condition. Short tear to upper edge of spine frome careless removal from shelf, and a slight bit of rubbing to a portion of cover. Previous owner note on end paper dated 1968 in neat pencil relating to "Raymond Hayden and Grandad Allen." No author, editor, or compiler is noted, so the publisher is used as the "author." Ref: Streeter 1577 ; B&W Illustrations; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 510 pages.
