2 vols., 8vo, engr. frontis. portrait to vol. 2, handsomely bound in full cont. tree calf, gilt, green leather onlays on spines which are elaborately gilt with red leather title and numbering labels, some mild spotting of e.p.'s in vol. 1, foxing and marking of front e.p. and portrait to second volume, a very attractive set with the bookplate of James Beveridge Duncan of Damside in each volume. We have not come across a similar binding style apart from another volume from the same library so assume this might have been a house style. [ESTC T82596] [Extra postage required for overseas]. Inner hinges starting, covers rubbed, some edgewear, small holes in front free endpaper of Vol. 1, some scattered foxing, else a very good set. Evans 30578. Kames (1696-1782) was a well known Scotch lawyer and jurist. His Elements of Criticism is a widely known classic in the field of aethetics where he codified the Lockian "ideal presence."
