Specifically Cousin's method of viewing ideas either of logical or chronological terms, and his examination of Kant - were influential in the work of Asa Mahan, early president of Oberlin and author of "A System of Intellectual Philosophy", 1845 which laid the foundation of the school's approach and philosophy. He was influential in early American philosophical thought, as evidenced by the American publication and translation of this work by Caleb Sprague Henry.
