The Elgar Companion to Classical Economics: Two-Volume Set

This authoritative and comprehensive reference work provides a thorough account of the classical approach to economics. It contains almost two hundred informative short entries in an easily accessible dictionary format on all the significant areas of this school of thought. The companion breaks new ground by drawing together the most important issues in the field in two comprehensive volumes.

Together these two volumes present an analytical and historical treatment of both old and modern classical economics. They contain portraits of all the major contributors to classical thought, as well as those who have contributed to the revival of classical economics. In addition, there are essays devoted to the major interpreters and critics of classical economics and to the classical tradition of economic thought in major countries around the world.

Each entry is cross referenced and offers suggestions for further reading. The companion will serve as the standard reference work for all those engaged in the field of classical economics. It will also be essential reading for scholars and researchers interested in the history of economic thought, macroeconomics, and the philosophy and methodology of economics.
