[Note: First Printing of this edition was in 1928.] Fine in Near Fine Dust Jacket. Text Block is white, tight, straight and square, with no markings of any kind. Text includes six black and white photos of portraits of the persons involved in the story. Binding is full black textured cloth with bright gilt title, etc., to spine, white, unmarked endpapers, and all corners square. Dust Jacket is intact with two tiny tears to the top edges discreetly closed from behind with archival (pH neutral) materials, the original price ($3.25) intact on the front flap, and a sunned spine. See photos. 296 pages. 5 1/2" x 8 1/4". The story of the rise of the Earl of Essex to power in the court of Queen Elizabeth, his ouster from favor, his subsequent attempt at a coup to regain power, and his execution for treason along with co-conspirators.
