Elisabeth Mulder (Barcelona, 1904-1987) inici� su carrera literaria con varios t�tulos de poes�a, aunque pronto orient� su trabajo hacia la novela, el relato, el teatro y los art�culos period�sticos, g�neros en los que alcanz� una mayor notoriedad. Embrujamiento, su primer poemario, fue publicado en 1927 y no ha sido reeditado hasta ahora. Esta obra se inscribe en la tradici�n modernista as� como en el simbolismo y el decadentismo. Su universo po�tico est� habitado por novicias susurrantes y bellezas p�lidas, pero tambi�n refleja el mundo de los suburbios, de interiores viciados por los vapores de la absenta, de personajes femeninos que son la encarnaci�n del conocimiento y la belleza, aunque tambi�n del mal y la perdici�n: brujas, m�diums, vampiras, prostitutas, esfinges o hechiceras, arquetipos de la mujer fatal. Como se�ala Andr�s Ju�rez en su introducci�n, este libro ins�lito y raro nos ofrece hoy una lectura a�n m�s profunda de su geograf�a oscura y luminosa, llena de incertidumbre y sabidur�a, de horror y de belleza.
